FAQ

Questions, answered

What is FitnessPeak?
A hosted MCP server that gives your AI assistant read-only access to your fitness data. WHOOP is live today. You connect WHOOP once here, then paste a URL and a key into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other MCP client.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol — an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data sources. If your assistant supports MCP, it can use FitnessPeak.
Do I need a WHOOP developer account?
No. That's the main friction FitnessPeak removes. Self-hosting an open-source WHOOP MCP server requires registering your own app on WHOOP's developer dashboard; here you just click Connect WHOOP and approve.
Does my MCP client need OAuth support?
No. FitnessPeak authenticates with a plain bearer key, which is why setup takes two minutes and works in clients with no OAuth support at all.
Which clients work?
Claude Desktop, Claude Code, claude.ai, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, Zed, Windsurf, Codex, and any custom client that can POST JSON-RPC to an HTTPS URL with an Authorization header. ChatGPT's connector UI currently expects OAuth rather than a static bearer key, so it works via the API and Codex but not yet as a one-click connector.
Can FitnessPeak change anything in my WHOOP account?
No. All tools are read-only and we request only WHOOP's read scopes. There is no write path in the codebase.
Do you sell or train on my data?
No. We don't sell it, share it, or use it to train models. FitnessPeak is funded by subscriptions, which is the whole reason we can say that.
Where is my WHOOP data stored?
It isn't. We store an encrypted WHOOP access token and refresh token, and fetch data from WHOOP on demand when a tool is called. We do not keep a copy of your recovery, sleep or workout records.
What does it cost?
$39 per year — about $3.25 a month — with a 14-day free trial.
Why do you need a card for the free trial?
So the trial becomes a subscription if you like it, instead of expiring and asking you to sign up again. We take a small verification charge to confirm the card and refund it immediately. Nothing else is charged until day 14.
How do I cancel?
One button in your dashboard. No email, no chat widget, no retention flow. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your WHOOP connection stops being used. Delete your account and every row — connection, keys, usage history — is removed immediately.
Is there an API besides MCP?
No. MCP is the interface. It's plain JSON-RPC over HTTPS, so you can call it with curl if you want to.
How far back can I query?
Up to 365 days per tool call, with pagination handled for you up to 500 records.
Why is data missing for some days?
WHOOP only returns days the strap recorded and scored. A day you didn't wear it is absent rather than zero, and a very recent night may still be unscored. We pass that through honestly instead of inventing zeros.
Can multiple people share one subscription?
No. One subscription covers one WHOOP connection. You can use as many MCP clients as you like with it, but each person needs their own account.
Is this affiliated with WHOOP?
No. FitnessPeak is an independent product that uses WHOOP's public developer API. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WHOOP, Inc.
Is this medical advice?
No. FitnessPeak provides hosting, cross-source joins and scheduling — any interpretation comes from your AI assistant, and models get things wrong. Talk to a clinician before acting on anything health-related.
